May 31, 2005 the doors of UrgentMed
Care Clinic opened and the vision became reality.
Jay Gregston M.D. and Debbie Holder PA-C were pulling shifts together at Duncan Regional Hospital when the concept of a medical facility in the Tuttle/TriCity area was initiated. The East Tuttle clinic Ms. Holder had practiced in closed, and she was hired to serve in the ER at Duncan Regional Hospital. Dr. Gregston had returned to his home town and was co-directing the Emergency Department at DRH. During a break, the discussion topic focused on areas within this region that truly needed an accessible and affordable urgent care and minor emergency healthcare facility. Even better if it could also serve appointment based family practice needs. Debbie immediately commented on the Tuttle/TriCity area. UrgentMed
Care was conceived.
Late summer 2004 and the search for a potential physical location meant the idea was truly taking shape. Dr. Rhonda Sparks joined the team; offering her experience in family practice and clinic knowledge to the planning process. From the beginning the guiding objectives have been to offer the highest quality of multiple medical services while insuring convenience at an affordable cost and maintaining a patient-centered and friendly atmosphere. Successful clinics in Minnesota, Florida, Mississippi and Arizona were consulted/visited; “let’s do it “right” from the start. Items like times of operation (extended hours of service); flexibility with patient’s individual and medical needs; providers that work as a team, giving a more efficient treatment plan; determine the need for “variety” in services (i.e. occupational medicine, medical specialty care and others).
What do our potential patients and community “need”? That’s what we “need” to offer.
Construction began in early 2005, the doors opened in May and the ribbon cutting was held September 3. While the principle staff has remained the same, we have had the opportunity to offer our patients and to assist in the establishment of several provider’s practices. Their knowledge and experience has helped us to refine and fine tune the facility, operations and services. We are so very thankful for the area support, commitment and loyalty. Our patients now number over 11,000 and the encouraging and positive comments assure us we are filling a core need and doing it well. We certainly enjoy the “relationship” with our community and continued growth. Participation in area events such as the ice cream festival and 4th of July parade have become a standard part of our calendar planning. Plus we enjoy and appreciate each other. Next time you are in the clinic, be sure to take a look at our Memory Wall and the pictures of staff....let’s just say....a day to two ago.
We are proud of UrgentMed
Care Clinic; where we’ve come from, what and who we are today, and the potential of our future. We are thankful for a great staff; but we are most especially appreciative of our fantastic patients and their loyalty.
We look forward to serving you “today and tomorrow”. |
